2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 HogTownHarry (4809) - Toronto (Harbourfront), - OCT 7, 2006
Can (12oz). Rating #1750. Such awesome can art (two pigs about to do a gleeful jumping double high-five - porkslap, get it?) almost deserves a good rating ... but let’s sample it anyway. Dead can-pop (like NesTea), a lively pour yielding a deep clear copper look and a very large lasting foamy beige head, which for some reason doesn’t appeal to me; odd. Aroma - very strange, reminded me of mint leaves, root beer, rhubard and celery - very floral/vegetal - not BAD, per se, but odd, almost like some of those veggie-nazi all-organic health juice concoctions they sell for outrageous prices. Taste - well there really isn’t much - a vague shadow of the herbal/veggie bitterness promised in the nose - there’s faint cheap malt character, and hiding in the background something like corn, no much alcohol - just weird, slightly bitter, long weak linger and aftertaste ... incredibly thin bodied, pretty much no carbonation, a bit of papery astringency; "Farmhouse Ale"? Yeah, made down on the farm, cheaply, and if you want a beer that tastes pretty much nothing like a beer, look here.

Pours a cloudy, dark tangerine color with almost no head. Active carbonation. Aroma of hops, toffee, caramel. Very mild taste, some biscuit, some zesty hop bite but not really much going on here. Thin mouthfeel, almost watery. Not as bad as the ratings suggest, but nothing to write home about. Probably would not buy again.

Uncle Hank’s trailer. Wintertime in a drafty room with wood paneling. But a wood stove bound to burn the place down at any moment keeps it over-wram. The windows are steamy and frosted.
My cousin, Tammy, and I lounge around in our underwear choking back Hank’s Porkslap’s while he’s out "on a mission" for the weekend. They taste like hell, but enough boredom and refrigeration take care of that problem.
Speaking of boredom...what else do drunk cousins do? Hell ya I slapped that pig!

Can. Pours hazy copper with a large, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is straw and hay malt, light biscuit notes, fruity esters, pine and citrus hops with spice notes. Flavor is light malt with moderate hops and bitterness, light fruity esters, ginger and a dry finish. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation.

This is my first Butternuts ale. Buz and Neds barbque has a nice selection of IPA and pale ales. The ale comes in a 12 oz can. The color was hazy light amber and the head was frothy white with lacing. There was a floral citrus aroma and a mild bitterness with each drink. The medium body ale had an average carbonation. The ale goes nicely with the bbq.

Pours to a nice two finger head with nice retention. A nice citrus hop aroma. A mild hazy amber color. Has a little bitterness that gives way to a nice tart and clean finish. Refreshing and very drinkable. Nicely done.
