1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 PBOYNY (316) - Westchester, USA - JUN 19, 2006
I should have known better, with a name called Pork Slap! This swill was watery, tastless, odorless, and was about the same as drinking bad water. Can’t think of anything good to say about it. Ugly can too!
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 asheft (2072) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2012
[can]
Cream, cardboard, and earthy hops aroma that’s a bit spicy and herbal. Clear dark copper under a white sheet. Bitter metallic and cardboard flavour with detectable citrus and floral hops with really no supporting malt or caramel sweetness. Light body, medium carbonation, lasting metallic/bitter finish.

Can. Pours a ruby hued and rather hazy amber with a medium to large white head. Sweet candied medicinal paper on the nose, old caramel, a light smattering of hops. Medium bodied, sweet, spicy malt and a bit more of that weird herbal and medicinal note from the aroma. Finishes up with more medicinal tones and a light bitterness. Nothing overly horrible, but this doesn’t taste like what I want out of a pale ale. I guess if I thought of it as a strange old saison it might be ok? But maybe not.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 McGarnigle (454) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 7, 2012
Six pack of cans. Muddy copper color, but I can’t complain about the head. There is a nice variety of hops here, neither citrusy West Coast nor the English standards. Not much hop bitterness though, and not a great malt profile. So the whole thing is a bit flat but for the late hops.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BillKismet (2753) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 6, 2012
Copper with a mild head. The nose is gently bitter with some herbal notes and a subdued malting. A tad underbodied, rather non-descript, with no real off notes. Lightly bitter and herbal hop body with a mostly inconspicious malt presence.

Can from TJ’s. Glowing copperish orange with minimal head, carbonation, looks like a cask beer so i guess it’s on point for appearance. Strange nose; paprika, red pepper flake, garlic, and onions. I swear I washed my glass well (I dont use a dishwasher and I havent used or ingested those ingredients lately, also Im not one of those raters who pulls a bunch of adjectives and descriptors out of their ass. this shit smelled weird, okay?) Kinda afraid to drink it. Wow. It tastes so different. Very light (but it is 4%, which is kinda cool, cuz not too many American craft breweries make a 4% beer these days. Light spice, but not nearly as pronounced as nose. Slightly tart and metallic. Kinda spicey, tart, lightly bitter finish. Weird.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 bubbleflubber (1228) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - APR 28, 2012
Pours amber into the glass, with a wispy eggshell head that leaves soapy lace. The nose is semi-sweet, but a bit nondescript. Flavors of spicy ginger on top of the pale malt makes for a very biscuit flour flavor, dry and spicy. The finish capitalizes on the spiciness, and with a light mouthfeel, it makes for a "just okay" pull. Nothing special of note.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Onenote81 (900) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - APR 23, 2012
Originally reviewed: 4/5/12. 12oz can poured into a pint glass. Pours a darker tawny-orange with a thin egg-white head capping it off. The nose is slightly musty, with some graininess and grassy notes. The body is on the thin side with low-to-moderate carbonation. Really a slick beer. Mild sour notes right off, not from infection, just citrusy tart. Hop bitterness is near absent. Flavors of grains and mild malty sweetness. Overall, this just really isn’t all that flavorable or enjoyable. The market is flooded with this style and there are far better ones that I have easier access to. Won’t revisit this one. I love the can though, so it’s got that going for it.

Can. Brewers description says it perfectly. Hint of malt on a spiced taste. Odd pale for sure. Great with Mexican food!

Can. Pours cloudy dark copper with average, fizzy off-white head; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie malt, butter, grassy hops, and some floral notes. Flavor is sweet malt dominate with faint hops and an oily mouthfeel; sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation with low warmth.

The name and packaging were a bit of a turn off but sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. I poured into a pilsner glass to find a hazy dishwater appearance. The head sat up but quickly dissipated. Slippery, almost oily mouth feel.
The aroma showed promise with some a tiny bit of orange and spice but the taste was a fair balance between malt and hops leaning a little to the malt and not that bitter. I found an interesting straw bale note in there that probably makes it a true farm house ale.
I wouldn’t go across town to get a Porkslap but it beats PBR and probably would go well w/ atomic wings to mask some of the more unfortunate qualities of this beer.
