2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Little aroma. Hint of ginger. Watery.
Looks good. Off orange. Very nice head.
Taste is meh. Hops are full but present. Fade terribly.malty. super malty. This ain’t no ipa.
Palate is supernheavy but watery at the same time. Hops fade poorly.
Overall not a terrible beer but terrible for the style. This is more like a pale ale. Even so the flavors are muddled. This is what I was talking about with the blood bath. Beers like these just won’t survive.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and toasted malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of zesty citrus, hops and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aromas of grainy and bready malts, hops are pretty subdued. Murky amber-brown with a mostly lasting small, off-white head. Balanced but not offering a whole lot of complexity. Light-medium bodied.

Can. First of all, in this world of a million IPAs, this one is truly unique....in a good way. Yes, the hops are there, it is well balanced and IT ISN’T SO FREAKIN’ BITTER THAT IT MAKES YOUR EYES WATER!!! Great job Butternuts.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was basically a hazy orange color with a slight transparency about it. There’s a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sliding right on into the beer.
The smell had mainly some burnt caramel malts with a subdued breadiness of sorts. There was some light piney hops that mainly stayed in the background.
The taste was mainly sweet through the caramel malts.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a sessionability that wanted to try to show but those malts, hmmm...we’ll it seems there’s just too many in the way.
Overall, this is an IPA? Says who? There’s barely any hops in this thing. Another beer by Butternuts that is unimpressive.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Mild grassy hop aroma, pours a hazy amber with a full white head. Some caramel sweetness, and very little hop bitterness. Full bodied, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a failure of an IPA. This is a malt heavy IPA, far away from balanced.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can. Pours a slightly hazy orangish body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin covering. The nose is pretty boring and bland, minimal hoppiness with a thin caramel malt backbone. The flavor is just lightly bitter with some sweet caramel malt and a bit of weak grainy malt. Short finish with a little butterscotch flavor. Lighter bodied with a slight stickiness and soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty low on the scale for IPAs.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells almost like a macro-brew, with basement aromas - not a good sign. The flavor is alright, although it doesn’t taste like an IPA, it is more like a pils. I agree with the previous reviewer who picked up "musty grain". Low bitterness and not much citrus flavor. There are some hops in there, but I would describe them mostly as grassy with a little spruce. Some caramel malt, giving it decent balance. In terms of palate it is similar to an amber ale.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
(Secret Krampus can from UDBeernut) Pours a semi-hazy orange color with a thin white head and a bit of lacing. Well, it certainly looks the part anyways. The aroma, however, quickly dispels the notion that this is a quality IPA, or even an IPA for that matter. Aroma is soured grain, and it smells like a sour. If there are hops in here, I’d be hard pressed to smell them. Other than the sourness there’s really not much else going on. Flavor is just a hit of musty grain, slight breakfast cereal, and a finish of crushed vitamins that lingers well after drinking. Again, not detecting any hops here. Mouthfeel is surprisingly full however, but the carb is a bit too fizzy. Overall this is definitely worthy of the Krampus designation. Thanks Art!
