glennmastrange (394), hobe sound, Florida, USA Jul 15, 2008 Can. Moderate malt notes of caramel, and hops of pine, orange and perfume, light broth for the yeast, and pepper and medicine in the background. Head is small, wispy, white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is slightly hazy amber/orange. Flavor is lightly sweet and acidic to start and finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily and has a lively carbonation. It finishes lightly astrigent. A good IPA, just a bit maltier than I expected.
cheapdark (1555), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2008 Animated fish on yellow can. Foamy head even with gentle pour. Big bubbly biting IPA that starts off with a pine-apple aroma. Creamy carbonation. Quite interesting. Bitter medicinal hanging fruity finish. I don’t like IPA but this stuff is almost like-able! Weird, in a good way! Stays with you after the session. mwelsh13 (136), Maryland, USA Aug 26, 2008 Can poured a nice orange color with a small, fluffy head. Very little hop aroma, but it was floral. Orange aroma as well. Light hop bitterness. Slightly sweet. Mes_and_Sim (4320), Highgate, Greater London, England Aug 24, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at GBBF. Gold with a thin white film topping. Oily hoppage and a delicate bitterness supported by some reasonable chewy malt in the background. A little out of balance if you ask me but it’s drinkable enough. mrant (245), New York, USA Aug 23, 2008 Smells faintly of zesty sour hops. Taste is bitter hops with some sour notes followed by a nice healthy malt backbone. Definitely the best beer I’ve ever had from a can TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Aug 22, 2008 12 oz can purcased at the brewery in Garrattsville, NY. Pours to a slightly hazy, deep golden to light amber color, with a short, white, head, and a good carbonation. The nose is pleasing on this beer with some zesty and herbal hop aroma. The palate is soft, with some good pale malt flavor, paired with a touch of caramel, light, jammy esters, and some mild herbal hop flavor. This beer finishes with more pale malt and light fruit up front, then ends with a pleasing herbal/zesty hop tang that slightly lingers. Another flavorful, yet very drinkable beer from Butternuts. I really enjoy the drinkability of these beers, and for one appreciate that this is a type of beer I could have more than a few of, and one I could enjoy with a number of dishes.
