Axe Edge, our 6.8% IPA is our flagship ale, our most decorated in terms of awards won, and probably our most talked-about beer. It’s an English take on the American style of IPA - Big, bold and hoppy. The flavours are simple - it’s full of tropical fruit notes, and the aromas are fresh and vibrant. There’s a lot of malt character in there too, and its rather bitter and refereshing. We think it’s delicious, hope you do to.

Bottle 50cl. (Tasting at SaintMatty, thanks) A light hazy orange golden colour with a medium high, good lacing, white head. An aroma of malt, caramel, hosp, orange and grapefruit. The taste is medium sweet and medium bitter. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a medium long duration.

500ml bottle. Deep, rich orange with foamy, soapy dissipating head. Fantastic juicy mandarin citrus nose, deep and inviting, rich fruit. Taste is right up there with best dipa, a bit dry after an admirable juicy hopping. Definitely trying for a big funky sour, juicy western-ipa. Not quite there, back end is too dry-bitter. But awesome up front, very tasty.

Bottle 500ml.

Clear medium to dark orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, grass, grapefruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dry. IMO lovely ;O) Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111211]

Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, Dec 2011 consumed at Baltic Wharf Campsite, Bristol in Frank (camper) 26.12.11 Hazy amber colour with a slim white head. fuzzy, furry wonderfully hoppiness, juicy and tasty with bags of fruitiness. Very decent in bottle but I bet this is simply stunning in cask format. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask handpull at The Grove Huddersfield. Clear gold lasting white head. Wow that is a massive hop flavour. Big peachy lychee hops. But with muted bitterness on finish. Its stunning. One of the best British strong beers i have ever had. Wow. That is simply stunning. Beer of the weekend? So far yes.

Scopey (3246) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2011
Bottle at Nate’s Birthday Bash. It pours light hazy golden, with a decent white head. The nose is tangerine, kumquat, orange sherbet and floral. The taste is tangy orange fruit (in particular kumquat and tangerine), wood, floral, pine and grass, with a solid bitter-dry finish. Medium body, average carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A very clean and crisp IPA. Nice.

500ml bottle, Coppers, Ncl. Really citrusy pine-laced aroma, a creamy, full-flavoured bitterness, with quite spirit-like strains in the nose when drinking. The palate is soft and fruity and makes for really easy drinking. The warmth is apparent in the chest, with a great lemon finish that lasts well.
