Axe Edge, our 6.8% IPA is our flagship ale, our most decorated in terms of awards won, and probably our most talked-about beer. It’s an English take on the American style of IPA - Big, bold and hoppy. The flavours are simple - it’s full of tropical fruit notes, and the aromas are fresh and vibrant. There’s a lot of malt character in there too, and its rather bitter and refereshing. We think it’s delicious, hope you do to.

Cask conditioned handpump Mr Foleys Leeds 25/07/12. An amber coloured beer with a bright white head. A ridiculously citrus grapefruity aroma; almost like pure fruit juice. Very hoppy and bitter in the mouth. Malts are over sweet which is a shame. Again lots of citrus fruit. A pretty decent taste, but that nose is sublime.

330ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. Nice fruity aromas, sweet ones. Pours murky light orange, not really appealing even keeping the sediment in the bottle, with some off-white head, vanishing, some lacing. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is citrusy, some tropical fruits, peach, mango, with a thick malty body, robust, well balanced. Some bitter aftertaste. Really enjoyable.

Bottle at home. Pretty boring to be honest. Pours amber, so darker than expected. Nose has hints of tropical fruits, but only hints. Doesn’t follow through on the taste - too malty. Basically Boring British Brown Beer (with a few more hops than normal BBBB)

Tap @ Mikkeller & Friends, Cph. Pours hazy orange with a small, staying, creamy white head. Aroma has resin, apricot, bergamot, citrus. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good crisp and light doughy malts, piney hops at first. Then apples, peach, pineapple, apricot. Lingering bitter finish. Nice and fat.

[5/5/13] Draught at Mikkeler & Friends in Copenhagen. Cloudy orange with a big white head. Great hoppy tropical fruits aroma. Flavor has lots of fruity hops with a bit of sweetness and a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Great stuff.

Keg @ The Earl Of Essex 2013/5/7 Absolutely delicious! Can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this. A proper US style IPA brewed in Britain. It’s got the balance and none of the astringency so common in the UK. I’m wearing a cold so hard to focus on the nose but this is all about the flavour anyway. Brilliant.

Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a medium head. Aroma of grapefruit. Taste is strong hoppy grapefruit, alcohol and some hints of tropical fruit softening the grapefruit aftertaste slightly. Medium bodied. Decent IPA.
