Axe Edge, our 6.8% IPA is our flagship ale, our most decorated in terms of awards won, and probably our most talked-about beer. It’s an English take on the American style of IPA - Big, bold and hoppy. The flavours are simple - it’s full of tropical fruit notes, and the aromas are fresh and vibrant. There’s a lot of malt character in there too, and its rather bitter and refereshing. We think it’s delicious, hope you do to.

Bottle from Utobeer. Colour is hazy rusty amber, white head. Nose is big kick of grapefruit, Nelson Sauvin earthiness, pine, marmalade, oranges, caramel. Taste is bitter, pine, caramel and marmalade. Nice tang of leafy green hops. Good robust sweet malt. Yep. this is decent.

Keg @ The Earl Of Essex 2013/5/7 Absolutely delicious! Can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this. A proper US style IPA brewed in Britain. It’s got the balance and none of the astringency so common in the UK. I’m wearing a cold so hard to focus on the nose but this is all about the flavour anyway. Brilliant.

Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a medium head. Aroma of grapefruit. Taste is strong hoppy grapefruit, alcohol and some hints of tropical fruit softening the grapefruit aftertaste slightly. Medium bodied. Decent IPA.

Pint @ Homo Sibaris (Tap), served in Shaker. Pours transparent orange/amber with medium white frothy head. Orange peel blended with sweet malts on the nose, very nice. The flavour is more caramel-like with lots of tropical fruits (specially mango), and a subtle citrusy touch in the back. Moderate bitterness, lingering though. Medium body, good carbonation. Pleasant.

On tap at Euston Tap, pours a cloudy orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of ripe oranges, fruity hops, and caramel malts. Flavour brings out pungent notes o tropical fruits, citrus hops, a little floral as a medium caramel malt backing. Full of flavour, coating the palate in rich tropical fruits with a strong hop backing. Most excellent stuff.

500ml bottle from BeerRitz. Pours a cloudy golden yellow colour, foamy white head leaving some lacing and aroma of tropical fruit, mango, citrus, pine, resinous hop. Taste is sweet tropical fruits & citrus hoppy notes balanced against malt caramel with an earthy yeasty bitterness through to a dry bitter finish. Oily mouth feel, medium bodied, soft carbonation. Very drinkable.
