COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Permanent. Bottle; Permanent (bottle conditioned).

Axe Edge, our 6.8% IPA is our flagship ale, our most decorated in terms of awards won, and probably our most talked-about beer. It’s an English take on the American style of IPA - Big, bold and hoppy. The flavours are simple - it’s full of tropical fruit notes, and the aromas are fresh and vibrant. There’s a lot of malt character in there too, and its rather bitter and refereshing. We think it’s delicious, hope you do to.

Bottled. Cloudy golden, small head. Aroma of butter, black currant and grape fruit. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Conctantrated hop flavours with pears and black currant dominating. Long bitterness.

Bottle conditioned. Amber-orange body. Medium white head. Grapefruit-citrus, fruit, oranges, marmalade. Bitter. Dry finish. Warming, some harsh alcoholic burn.

Cask at North Bar, Leeds. Pours a slightly murky red-brown-orange, finger of head with nice retention. Aroma is juicy, resinous, grassy HOPS. Many, many hops. Taste is very hoppy too, with a lot of pine and a woody character too. Comes in phases - malt base cones first, balanced out by a big, yet not overly brash hop hit towards the finish. Full body, long finish. ’Tis good.

Lovely. Massive grapefruit nose and taste. Like drinking a big boozy grapefruit... but the booze is subtle. Very nice.

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Deep gold with a slight white head and trace of carbonation. Big, hoppy aroma of tropical fruits, with some orange and slightly sweet malts. Flavour had much more grapefruit and pineapple, biscuits malts and led to a very dry, resinous finish. Excellent.

Citrus, with floral hops. Mid and lacy, with light sweet and mid to full bitter. Another fabulous beer from this brewery.

Light brown, with a creamy, frothy off white head. Pine hops, hay, citrus peel, bready and just plain great. Full bitter flavour, but never astringent. Very smooth. Not neccessarily the most complex DIPA but it doesn’t even need that. So flavourful and easy to drink. Dangerous maybe at this (totally hidden) ABV. Nomnom. (50cl bottle, bit pricy)

Bottle @ home. Aroma is fruity and floral hops, some blue cheese notes. Fruity malt and some candy like sweetness. Flavour is fruity hops with a mild bitterness, caramel and bready malt, some flowery notes.

Bottle at home. Hazy murky orange pour, foamy white head. Aroma is very fruity, hoppy floral, pine and resin. Flavor is huge fruity hops, very intense and well balanced. Great brew.

Half pint on draught at Reading Beer Festival 2012. Clear copper colour, with a bubbly head. Lively, hoppy grapefruit taste, with a citrus burn. Effervescent citrus aroma. Bitter aftertaste, a somewhat acidic. Good, but a pint of it would be a bit too much.

Bottle. Pours dark orange-gold, thin foamy head. Big fruity, floral nose, mango, lychee. Nice bitterness to the flavour, very grapefruity, with plenty of caramel and mango. Very nice and fizzy, really well balanced. Top stuff.
