Black Rocks is a Black IPA. It is very dark in colour, yet has many characteristics of an India Pale Ale. Late mash additions provide the colour without the harsher, roasted flavours of the dark malts. The beer has a blackcurrant aroma and flavours of liquorice and pithy grapefruit

From 345 ml bottle. Pours a solid inky black with the merest brown highlight at the edge and a sudsy light tan head. Aromas of pine needles, lemon, cocoa powder and flowers. Taste is dominated by a firm pine resin bitterness at the front. That builds to an even firmer citrus peel and pith bitterness which eventually slides away to some rich dark chocolate and coffee at the back end. Not for the faint hearted but really well done.

Bottle. Pours very dark, almost black, with a mahogany tinge. One and a half finger beige head which is thick and creamy and persists. Aroma- lots of hops, chocolatey malt, liquorice, hints of dark fruit. Quite a bit going on, and the hops dominate. Taste- roasty malts, cocoa, espresso coffee, hop bitterness, fruity notes detectable, lingering bitterness at the end. Medium to full mouthfeel, quite creamy but with a nice amount of carbonation. Very interesting, and very nice.

IPA con un carattere deciso e intrigante, con un gusto intenso di luppolo, note di caffè, leggero affumicato, con un tocco di cioccolato. Molto amara. Buonissima!

Bottle 330ml (ABM)
Dark black color, small steady brown head. Aroma has citrus and roasted maltyness. Medium-bodied. Nice strong roast with good grapefruity and resiny hoppyness. Although it is "only" 6 % this beer has lots of things going. Good balance of roast and bitterness. Quite dry finish.

Entirely sensible BIPA. Good punch for 6% with dark bitter roast, strong dark coffee flavours and ok length. Almost austere and I mean this in the nicest possible way.

On tap at the salt house. Appearance: cola black, whispy white head. Aroma: hoppy and bacon and malt and more hops and smoke. Smells great. Flavour: bacon and hops, a lot of green leaves, pine and smoke. Lovely bitter finish. Delicious.

330ml bottle from Redmonds. Deep brown, almost black, ruby highlights. Big, rocky, frothy tan tinted head. Looks the business. Roast malt and a great blast of hops in the aroma, some leather notes, good hints of a pine forest. Flavour is slightly sweet up front, then comes the big dark malt, medium bitter and a touch fruity in the finish. Loads and loads of body. Mouth feel is sublime, rich, oily and slick. Roasty bitterness in the finish. How good is this brewery?

Aromatyczne chmielne piwo. Lekko tostowe i opiekane. W smaku przyjemnie goryczkowe. Ale nie jest ciezkie w piciu. Pieknie wyglada. tzn jest czarne, se spora piana ale srednio trwala. Metnosc spora bo nic przez swiatlo w szklanicy nie przeswitywalo. Polecam amatorom ciemnych IPA
