3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at Gallows Bird real ale festival. Dark brown in color, tan head. Licorice and anise mostly in aroma but some blackberries is too to be found. A bit of that anise in taste at first that turns into some more roasted notes later on. Some sweet berries as in taste, which keeps on changing all the time. Very diverse brew and exquisite taste. Nice one.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask @ Gallows Bird RAF 2013. Pours a reddish dark brown with a latte-colored head. Aroma is roast and coffee mostly. Taste follows along those lines as well, but has some flowery hoppiness there as well as some fruitiness. Palate is light.

Cask at the Gallows Bird XVI Real Ale Festival, Espoo, Finland.
Reddish dark brown colour with small tan head.
Rubber, grass, liquorice, malt and lots of dryness in aroma. Nice!
Flavour is quite the same. Some smoke and more roastiness in flavour. Balanced and tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2013 (Bottle, 0.5 l, at Kittys, 20130103) The beer poured almost black. Its head was small and white. Aroma had sweetness, hops and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, roasted malts, burnt malts, sweet liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A light black IPA with too burnt flavour. Still easy to drink. Old rating: 7-3-6-3-13.
(Re-rate, cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival ’13) Updates to the previous rating. Aroma had roasted malts, spiciness and hops. Taste had strongly hops, mildly roasted malts and some sweetness. Way better than the bottled one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Black, with cream on top. Bitter malt, or is it hop? What am I tasting? Don’t want to get it wrong. Deffo some of Bish’s coins here. Smooth, liquiddy feel. Almost like drinking an actual beer. Heeeeeeyy, but seriously, some bramble, some dark choc. Easy drinking. Probably should have tried this before Buxton’s Imperial Black, but hey ho.

Black Rocks. Yes it does. Name anything and the blacker the better. Except bananas. And toe nails. And orange juice, moods, lights, milk and snow.
