Bottle. Pours a near-black deep brown body with a small off-white head. Nose is pine, spruce, freshlty cut grass, hints of chocolate, peaches and cold coffee. Taste is pine, coffee, resin, grass, hints of peaches, herbs and licorice. Medium body and carbonation. A very well executed BIPA with a flavorful, hoppy profile while still having a bit to offer on the malty side.

Dark brown body, nice tan head. Rich mix if chocolate and pecan with pine and spruce hops. Smooth body with just enough carbonation. Solid amount of bitterness without being so overpowering. Great brew. (50cl bottle)

Bottle (330 ml). Dark brown with a medium beige head and heavy lacing. Aroma is a burst of chocolate with a fruit explosion along with resinous notes and liquorice. Taste is slightly sweet and moderately bitter with a huge amount of chocolate along pine, caramel and liquorice. Alcohol is well hidden Medium body. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. Drinkable for the abv and the style. Very tasty. Really good!

Bottle from Stewarts Wine Company. Deep black colour with a tan head. Quite malty with a solid dose of hops. Not bad and hides the alcohol well.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Toffee orange and Terry’s chocolate orange up front on this impenetrable dark ruby-brown beer. Good sized fluffy beige head forms. Gentle carbonation and a world of flavour. Up front we get a hint of freshly ground coffee, followed swiftly by pine resin and sweet toffee malt. Then the citrus comes along to freshen the palate and finishes with a hint of earthy malt. Some chocolate, lots of hop bitterness. Its particularly drinkable for its ABV and bests the original. I’m glad I have 500ml as 330ml wouldn’t be enough. Lovely. This is up there with Axe-edge and SPA as my top Buxton brews. Edited 2/8/12 score revised up to 4.8 from 4.6 keg at barley mow, bristol
Unable to find fault, spot on tropical aroma, nary a hint of black malt, just full on fruit punch, no sign of the booze either, perfect carbonation and palate, fab 5/5 Edited 8/5/13 score up from 4.8 to 5

Very dark brown color with light brown head. Very hoppy nose with tons of citrus notes under pinned by roasted malts. Medium full body, tons of cotton candy, citrus notes with excellent roasted malt character. Sharp malt and hop character. Lingering roasted malt finish. Excellent example of the style, but doesn’t make top three for me.
