4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2012 Cask at CBC, London. Pours dark brown with red highlights and a foamy, tan head. Aroma holds some dark pine, mild roast, burnt grass and faint cocoa. Flavor is big and ballsy. Medium to heavy sweetness with the bitterness to match it. Dark malts of moderate roast, burnt wood and grass, pine, some juicy citrus in the background, burnt sugars. Full bodied with fine, delicate carbonation. Long, deep bitter finish, grassy, with understated roast, sweet and juicy grapefruit, mild wood and cocoa. Quite dynamic and damn good. Buxton is just doing great work these days.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. It pours a big, creamy, dark beige head over an almost black body. Nice lacings. Roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and lots of orange peel and pine cones. It’s full bodied and a bit heavy on the carbonation. Still nice though. Semi-dry. Roasted matls, dark chocolate, hints of coffee and lots of pine cones and citrus peel. Nice hoppy bitterness too, lasting for a good while. Roasted malts and hop flavors in the finish. Sure a nice one, although it’s a bit more dark malty than I prefer my Black IPA’s. 140613

Intensiv hopfiger Antrunk, zu gleichem Maße aber auch malzig mit deutlichen Schokoladennoten. Wenig fruchtig, die starke Malzigkeit wird durch den Hopfen ergänzt. Intensiv, gut! 11/13/12/11/10/12
