Bottle @ Papsø. A bit cloudy, dark brown appearance with a tan head. A little minty, mild piney, dark chocolate, lightly roasty aroma. Fairly roasty, a bit charred, spruce/piney, somewhat bitter flavor and overall pretty solid.

50cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Pitch black color, small rough off-white colored head. Smell is great: malts, roasted malts, hops, fruity hops. Taste malts, lightly some coffee, fantastic hops, fruityness and a lovely bitterness. Wow this is good! Medium body, medium carbonation.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit einer wunderbar schönen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr hopfig fruchtig, röstmalzig, Kaffee. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, fruchtig, stark hopfig, bitter, Kaffee.

A very drinkable and balanced achievement. Bang on the style, jet black, citrus aroma, roast right there. Above average mouthfeel.LCBO.

200ml, keg, shared with Skinnyviking at Mikkeller & Friends. Good lacing from a bubbly, tan-coloured head. Devil-black body colour. Aroma of earthy malts and dark fruits. Well blended taste of resin-like hops, coffee grounds, and dark fruits. Bitter finish. Fresh and nice (Copenhagen, 22.05.2013).

Cask conditioned air dispense Euston Tap London. A black beer with an off-white head. Delicious grapefruity hops throughout. Notes of coal from the dark malts but no sweetness. Beautiful flavours and ridiculously drinkable. Not as robust by depth as some but gorgeous all the same.

Deep pitch black pour with a thick moussey brown head. The aroma is amazing - orange peel, tangerine and some slightly tropical notes. A very subtle bit of cocoa and a touch of moderate malt character through the middle. Medium bodied but the hops in here are very expressive. Juicy and citrusy with a fantastic balance of malt and hops. Has a little bit of floral character as well. It’s lovely.

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 2012.  Very dark brown with a beige foam. Aromas are spicy with fruity, nutty dark chocolate and peppery grapefruit. Light coffee with melon and burnt toast. Flavours are bittersweet grapefruit with dark chocolate and marzipan. Spicy with vinous, red wine fruitiness. Pithy and dry to finish. Good stuff.

Bottle 330ml @ yngwie
Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, citrus, grape, pine and caramel. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium bitter with a long dry, citrus and grape fruity, piney and hint of chocolate in the finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

My Bottom Line:
This fruity, resinous and chocolatey Black IPA pleases from aroma to finish, lending plenty of complexity and flavor.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A stable sheet of foam decorates the brown-edged black.
-Carbonation might be a bit zealous.
-Hop profile is more coniferous than citrusy.
-Bitterness is a blend of hop resins and malt roastiness.
-Drinkability is pretty high for the style.

Bottle. Merci, Ian!
