Cask, handpump at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London 6th Jan 2012 Black in colour with a filmy head. This is an ’In yer face’ beer with loads of chocolate and citrus zapping around. Good thrusting bitterness with a nice drying finish, citrus showing well mainly grapefruit, drinks far too easily for the abv, Lovely, not quite as lovely as the ’Wild Boar’ but still a corking beer. 500 ml bottle. Black Door, Helsinki, Finland. Dark brown almost black colour with small tan head. Absolutely delicious aroma with piney and fruity hops, moderate bitterness, mild roasted malt, liquorice and dryness. Flavour is more roasted malt, dry liquorice, sweet sugary notes, some balancing hops, mild bitterness and anise. Aroma is more IPA and flavour more Stout/Porter. Yummy! Very very tasty. More of this please! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at CBC. It pours cloudy dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is charcoal, treacle, varnish, cola and liquorice. The taste is charcoal, roasted malt, sweet caramel, tar, treacle, smoke, wood, liquorice, cocoa powder and a touch of spice, with a long dry-dry roasted finish. Medium-full body and soft carbonation. A tasty black IPA.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a citrus and treacle aroma. There is a hearty chocolate malt flavor with dome dark molasses and a hefty dose of hop bitterness.

500mL bottle at Euston Tap, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of dry toasted malts, some floral hops, and very dry notes. Flavour brings out very dry roasted / toasted malts, pungent piney hops, and dry bread. Very dry body, full of toasted malt and dry piney hops. Excellent black IPA - one of the best British beers out there.

500 ml bottle @ Gastropub Praha, Tampere.
Pours a black colour with an off-white head. Aroma of lovely floral hops, citrus and some maltiness. Flavour of roasted malts, strong floral hops, citrus, mandarin orange and exotic fruitiness. Medium bodied, silky smooth mouthfeel and a smooth, roasty and nicely bitter finish. Really well balanced. Delicious.

On gravity at the Factoberfest, Tobacco Factory, Bristol September 2012. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Big aroma of citrus fruits, grassy hops, pine and a touch of sweetness. Flavour had plenty of dark fruits and tangerines, a hint of fruit cake and a dry, resinous finish. Excellent.
