Full bodied jet-black ale with a pale-tan head. Abundant fresh hop aromas suggesting zesty citrus pulp and forest fruits.

Bottle from beersiveknown - many thanks, Steve! Pours out in a deep black colour with medium body and steady head. Aroma of fresh hops and roasted nuts. Taste of fresh hops, nuts, barley, spruce, oak and barrel. Fresh and citrus finish. Nice one.

Not a bad one but also not relly hitting what I like. Thick, strong with some coffee and roasted malt. Classy classic.

500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.5%. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely aroma of citrussy hops, on a background of moderately roasted malts, hints of dark chocolate. The medium dry flavour has again citrussy hops, blended with distinct roasted malts, notes of strong coffee, dark bitter chocolate and resin. The contradictory "Black IPA" style is beginning to grow on me, and this one is a fine specimen.

Bottle from de Molen Beershop, bottled 19/2/15 BB 19/2/16, large sample. Dark brown color, big frothy light brown head. Big aroma of piney and citrussy hop, slight roast and hint of cookie. Medium bitterness in taste, some roast, slight cookie sweetness. Slight thin in body, but the aroma makes up for that. Good beer.

Some zesty citrus indeed. Finishes with a dose of it, mixed with bitter tinge from hops. Plenty of roast floating around as well.Pours black with good head and lacing. Thick texture. Light hint of sourness in finish as well. Bottle.

50cl, as Buxton Imperial Black, new English brew Anno 2012, from The Bottle Shop Canterbury, complex bitter brew, bitter/fruity and slightly roasted/spicy, balanced, hazy, small head, good brew, yet expensive

50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, creamy light beige head. Aroma of citrus hops, light pine, roasted malts, light smoke, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is roasted malts, light chocolate, coffee, all very smooth, nice citrus flavours, grapefruit, smooth bitter finish. Reminded me a lot of De Molen Stout & Hop. Medium to fullbodied, soft carbonation. One of the first BIPA’s I thoroughly enjoyed. And another Buxton winner.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Black Door, 20120817) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and almost white. Aroma had pine, grass and hint of roasted malts in the background. Palate was medium bodied and a bit oily with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, roasted malts, ash, pine, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was roasty, hoppy and bitter. Aroma promised less roastedness than the taste delivered. A great beer nevertheless.

Bottle (33cl): Served in a shaker at 13 degrees Celsius: Medium sized beige head. Deep dark black brown beer. Aroma is incredible yet smooth and not exaggerated hoppy with some nice roasty tones. Very well balanced! Flavour is more or less the same as the aroma but than with more fruit, bitters, resin, some sweets, little pine tones and floral tones. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, herbal and floral tones, light grassy, very hoppy and a toast sprinkle. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, more than medium bodied. Serious delicious beer!
