COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This full-bodied beer pours jet black with a pale-tan head. It has abundant fresh hop aromas suggesting zesty citrus pulp and forest fruits. All complimented by a firm malty base and a deeply satisfying finish.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Toffee orange and Terry’s chocolate orange up front on this impenetrable dark ruby-brown beer. Good sized fluffy beige head forms. Gentle carbonation and a world of flavour. Up front we get a hint of freshly ground coffee, followed swiftly by pine resin and sweet toffee malt. Then the citrus comes along to freshen the palate and finishes with a hint of earthy malt. Some chocolate, lots of hop bitterness. Its particularly drinkable for its ABV and bests the original. I’m glad I have 500ml as 330ml wouldn’t be enough. Lovely. This is up there with Axe-edge and SPA as my top Buxton brews. Edited 2/8/12 score revised up to 4.8 from 4.6 keg at barley mow, bristol
Unable to find fault, spot on tropical aroma, nary a hint of black malt, just full on fruit punch, no sign of the booze either, perfect carbonation and palate, fab 5/5 Edited 8/5/13 score up from 4.8 to 5

Bottle with husband. Black pour, tan head. Tropical fruits the feature in the nose, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is dominated by tropical fruits, with lots of roasted malts. Very similar to Axe Edge (wouldn’t be shocked if there weren’t many differences besides the malts used).

Black in colour and with a malty base, the zesty hops and dark fruit aromas make for a brilliant Black IPA. Great hoppy and intense finish

UPDATED: APR 14, 2012 Re rated, tried in bottle, aroma much better, seems to be better because it’s more fizzy, probably the best smelling beer I’ve ever had Trieed on cask at the euston tap, suddenly become a very important thing for me to try these dark hoppy beers, they seem to be delicious, my grandson does not approve. This tastes wonderful, very complex hoppiness with a hint of tar, aroma is good but could do with some work.

Chocolate with citrus and roasted coffee. Full body and dark, with light sweet with full roasted and citrus bitter. Fabulous!!!
