An Imperial, Smoked Rye Porter evolved from the recipe book of JK; our Head Brewer. Mashed with malt smoked over a scottish peat burning fire, this beer has a lovely smokey, phenolic and slightly spicy character. Reminiscent of bonfires and Islay whisky.
Almost all gone, get it while you can and drink it whilst the smokey character is still prominent.

Bottle picked up from De Molen brewery (poss last year?) consumed at home Thursday 29th October 2015. Pours black with a light beige head. I usually avoid these beers but as it was Buxton I couldn’t refuse. Smokey nose as expected, peaty and bonfire residude. Taste is peaty, roasty and smoke, burnt plastic and ash a little fruit and hop tries to show and it finishes dry. Not really my thing but done better than many others of this ilk. Bottle @ home, from De Molen. Lovely smokey, peaty, flavourful porter. So many things going on, but very well balanced. Dry smoke prevails, can't fault it. Lovely.

330 ml bottle. Thanks olio! Pours a pitch black colour with a beige head. Aroma of strong leathery notes, smoked malts, maneuver and pepper. Flavour of strong roasted malts, tart wooden notes, some red berries, peppery spiciness, Islay whisky, some milk chocolate and grass. Medium bodied and a bit thin mouthfeel. Very earthy and smoky.

Dark, thick black. No head. Aroma is smoky and medicinal. Sour and smoky flavor, but the smoke tastes fake; it’s not very pleasant. It’s not a porly-crafted beer, it’s just not to my taste at all.
