3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn)
Pours a bit murky and dishwatery. At no point did it really look like it was becoming cloudy so it wasn’t clear when to stop. Small tight white head. Sweet rose aroma, slightly perfumy, a touch citrussy, some light grains. Light palate, slightly crisp carbonation, but it is quite cool. A touch grainier in the mouth than the aroma, some nice clean barley, still plenty of citrus in the retronasals, rose is more subdued bechind more traditional modern hops. A little watery, but only as you’d expect and want in a 4.1% beer - a very good thirst quencher, perfect for a hot day. Finish has a little bit resiny, quite grapefruity hops. Nice. Hard to fault at all, apart from it looking a bit incipid, pretty much how a pale coloured proper bitter should be. If all "golden ales" tasted like this, I’d not rant about them being so crap. Old boring brewers - please learn from these guys (and Otley, and Oakham, and Steel City, and Tring, and ...)
