An Imperial, Smoked Rye Porter evolved from the recipe book of JK; our Head Brewer. Mashed with malt smoked over a scottish peat burning fire, this beer has a lovely smokey, phenolic and slightly spicy character. Reminiscent of bonfires and Islay whisky.
Almost all gone, get it while you can and drink it whilst the smokey character is still prominent.

330ml from Beer Gonzo. Very deep ruby with a loose beige foam receding to a halo. Top smoked sausage, Chorizo, paprika, chipotle, smoked ham, background bramble aroma. Smoked ham, cheese, beechwood taste with soapy hop, blackcurrant and a bitter roasted finish. Pure Bamberg. And then some.

Lovely soft sweet smoky aroma, some smoked sausage in it. Smooth and full in the mouth, pleasant carbonation. Lovely full roasty body. Smokiness very nice, but I do also see the band-haid phenolic aspect too. Really no sign of 7% at all, superbly drinkable. It could easily be 4.5%. Like the tarry finnish, and though it may be slightly acidic, all I want to do is to drink more of this beer.

Bottle @ Christers. Pours dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, peat, smoke, rubber and medicine. Flavor is malts, caramel, little smoke, peat, medicine notes. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation. 100613

Bottle, 7%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is malt, smoke, roasted malt and peat. Flavour is malt, roasted malts, ash, peat, chocolate, medium sweet, little medical, coffee and medium bitter.

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Hazy very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, peat and yes band-Aid. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish. 100613

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are smoke, ashes, little peat, notes of bacon, caramel, medicine, malt and hops. A bit disappointing.

Bottle @ Ynwa, Kolding. Pours nearly black with a ruby hew and a small thin and creamy head. Very vague peat, campfire, sausage, thick caramel and Roast. Smooth and balanced. Wauw. Tasty stuff.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a dark brown colour with a little light at the edges. There is a thin tan head with some broken lace. The aroma is mildly smoky with some malt. The flavour is medium bitter, with liqourice, roasted malt and chocolate. The palate is rather smooth and the bitterness lingers for a while in the finish.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with spotted lacing and a dissipating small tan creamy head. Aroma is peaty smoke, ripe dark fruit, pine, red apple, toffee, roasted malt, barnyard, iodine, rye’ish spice, leather and unripe banana. Taste is medium sweet and bitter. Body is medium+, texture is soft/creamy, carbonation is near flat. Finishes initially sweet malty with smoke but ends up being dry with the hops coming through in the far finish. Great balance, body and texture. The smoke never overpowers the other aromas. Lovely stuff.
