COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Imperial, Smoked Rye Porter evolved from the recipe book of JK; our Head Brewer. Mashed with malt smoked over a scottish peat burning fire, this beer has a lovely smokey, phenolic and slightly spicy character. Reminiscent of bonfires and Islay whisky.
Almost all gone, get it while you can and drink it whilst the smokey character is still prominent.

At first it had the Frazzles smell going on but then the peat came through. Tastes like a porter with Islay whisky. Two favourites in one, works for me. Bring the noise.

Bottle. My first from this brewery. Brown with a small head. Dominating flavour is a smokey maltiness.Medium body and a good example of this style.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is a pound of smoked gammon thatís been aged in a pint of TCP. Taste isnít as over the top, thick smoke and peat with mild plaster and TCP notes. Flat but full in the mouth.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt and smoke. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with smoke. Overall a beer below average.

Scopey (6932) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2012
Bottle at Euston Tap. It pours opaque very dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is big on the smoke, roasted malt, some caramel, tire, burnt plastic and umami aspect. The taste is roasted malt, toast, smoke, earth, tar, cacao, charcoal, tar, meatiness and some medicinal notes, with a dry, tarry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good balance and flavour.

Pours an oily reddish black, with a thin mocha head. Big aroma of sweet wood smoke, charred meat and bitter coffee. Taste is much the same, although a little less prominent. Lingering finish, minimal carbonation. A little sweet for me, but a good stab at the style.

Bottle from Matlock Newsagents. Smells amazing, whisky and oak, very potent. Flavour a bit of a let down but it is still very enjoyable.
