An Imperial, Smoked Rye Porter evolved from the recipe book of JK; our Head Brewer. Mashed with malt smoked over a scottish peat burning fire, this beer has a lovely smokey, phenolic and slightly spicy character. Reminiscent of bonfires and Islay whisky.
Almost all gone, get it while you can and drink it whilst the smokey character is still prominent.

330 ml bottle. BBE 2015. The Gallows Bird XVI Real Ale Festival, Espoo, Finland. Black colour with small tan head. Manure, tar, smoke, malt and sweetness in aroma. Smoke, malt, mild alcohol and tar in flavour. Disappears too quickly. Oily and slick. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle @ Gallows Bird, Espoo

Pours pitch black with a small head. Strange aroma of band-aid, horse shit, peat, farmyard and roasted malts. Taste is roasty and peaty with notes of wood, smoke and leather. Finish is smooth with some smokey notes, leather and wood. Okay, a bit unbalanced smoked and peated ale.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Gallows Bird, 20120125) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had smoke, roasted malts, sweetness and rye bread. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, roasted malts, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky, sweet and bitter. Not the most pleasant smoked beer but the aftertaste was quite nice

At first it had the Frazzles smell going on but then the peat came through. Tastes like a porter with Islay whisky. Two favourites in one, works for me. Bring the noise.

Bottle. My first from this brewery. Brown with a small head. Dominating flavour is a smokey maltiness.Medium body and a good example of this style.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2012. Pours a clear and dark brown beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt and smoke. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with smoke. Overall a beer below average.

Bottle at Euston Tap. It pours opaque very dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is big on the smoke, roasted malt, some caramel, tire, burnt plastic and umami aspect. The taste is roasted malt, toast, smoke, earth, tar, cacao, charcoal, tar, meatiness and some medicinal notes, with a dry, tarry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good balance and flavour.
