An Imperial, Smoked Rye Porter evolved from the recipe book of JK; our Head Brewer. Mashed with malt smoked over a scottish peat burning fire, this beer has a lovely smokey, phenolic and slightly spicy character. Reminiscent of bonfires and Islay whisky.
Almost all gone, get it while you can and drink it whilst the smokey character is still prominent.

Bottle from Matlock Newsagents. Smells amazing, whisky and oak, very potent. Flavour a bit of a let down but it is still very enjoyable.

On cask at The Bow Bar. Pours a very dark brown colour with a decent tan head. Aroma of smoked malt, tcp, chocolate and caramel. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel. Interesting take on the style and very aptly named.

Very dark brown, ruby edges in glass, quite dense tan head, good lacing
Aroma - Dark malts, some smoky sausage, touch of phenol, elastoplast, i’m getting blue cheese too
Taste - Earthy smoky dark malts, bacon smoke, bit phenolic, smoky BBQ, woody, hint of stilton cheese - well made, but I’m not a fan
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body, smoky earthy woody malt finish, some tingy phenol and that hint of stilton again
Overall - Too smoky for me, couldn’t get that blasted stilton out of my head. Smoky beer fans will probably love this...I only like subtle smoke

Black colour, light beige head. Peated aroma, medicinal, whisky, Islay, smoke, smoked malts, light roasted. Light sweet flavour. Peat, smoke, toasted barley, light rye. Rather thin body (but then, it’s a porter), very peated finish. Nice brew!

Boreft Beer Festival 2012. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with licorice and peat smoke. Dry malty flavour of licorice and roasted notes, some mild smoke and a touch of iodine. Pretty decent for a beer abusing peat smoked malt.
