Bottle from Birratrovo, Como; bottled Aug 2013, bottle 1383
Black color with medium sized brownish head. Strong aroma of peat and iodine, then roasted malt, then resiny hops. Full bodied, but smooth mouthfeel; strong flavor of roasted malts, with a milky impression; salty and peaty presence; regular bitterness.
Good, powerful, not elegant; it must not be too difficult to do this one.
Too expensive.

Backlog rating. 33cl bottle from BeerRitz. It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is dark fruits, roasted malts, burnt sugar, figs, port wine and raisins. Taste is sweet with notes of dark chocolate, licorice root, dates, raisins, wood, booze and ashes. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, interesting flavour profile, light whisky influence

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2014 33cl bottle from Ale&Hop in Barcelona. Pours pitch black with one finger of beige head. Smells of roasted malts, peat, whisky, smoked meat. Taste is similar with earthy notes, light sweetness evolving into a very light bitterness with ground coffee notes. Whisky aroma and alcohol very well balanced and not overwhelming. Thick mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very good.

Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Nearly black. Thin, creamy, tan head. Pitch black tar. Peat. Charred wood. Light liquorice. Taste is woody dry, and burnt, bonfire bitter. Background of of caramel sweetness. Thick, but soft, chewy palate. Earthy, mucky, long bitter finish. Dry close. Expected more really.

TET (1808) - FINLAND - AUG 22, 2014
A one year old bottle. A black beer with an almost medium and graybrown head. The nose has strong whiskey and turf, some smoke, liquirice, strong sweetness. Taste is more balanced than aroma, still lots of dominating turf that stays there until the end, some smoke, salt liquirice, nice sweetness. Not so heavy as could be expected based on the whiskey and alcohol %, almost full bodied. Not balanced, the barrel is too dominating. Not totally for me but the whiskey lovers probably like this beer.

330 ML bottle Thanks to Owen Black pour, quick fading light tan head Ash, char, burnt tires, peat, earth, scorched earth, whisky, burnt malts Taste reflects nose. Lots of booze in this. Heavy, low carbonation, slow sipper. Lots of peat, burnt rubber, and ash. Massive only for how burnt it tasted and felt but lighter than expected.

(33 cl bottle courtesy of minutemat) Pours black with medium toffee head. Good retention and beautiful lace. Aroma is quite peaty with some boozy notes. For some reason peaty whisky always reminds me of rain coats. The flavour gives away more oaky and iodine notes as well as some hints of smoke. The body is not as heavy as one would expect for a 12% ABV barrel aged. I guess most of the sugars got fermented. Soft carbonation, oily texture and a warming, roasted malt bitterness finish. Flavour has oak, iodine, roasted malt and a hint of smoke. Quite the sipper but I’m wondering how ’artistically integrated’ the expression of this beer is.
