Bottle and keg, special
After a long wait, our Special Reserve No.5 is pretty much ready. it’s an 8.4% big, bold, double IPA. It’s fresh, piney, big-bodied and with a bitterness that’ll slap you in the chops.

Draught @ La Resistencia, Barcelona. Pours a cloudy dark golden colour with a white thick head. Aroma of pineapple, resin, passion fruit, floral hops and mild caramel notes. Flavour of smooth caramel malts, juicy pineapple, floral hops, grass and some mellow honey-like sweetness. Medium bodied and a long, lingering bitter, dry and very bitter finish. Very enjoyable and juicy.

Bottle @ Home, straight up caramel sweetness but with a huge bitter aftertaste. After a few mouthfuls a pinenut essence comes through. Very bitter. I tend to like imperial/double IPA’s but with this one something is not quite right in the state of Buxton.

August 18, 2013 - on draught at Cask Pub & Kitchen (Pimlico). Hazy amber-gold with a decent creamy off-white head. Smells great - like Big Inflateable Cowboy Hat somewhat; alcohol, resin, some odd tart fruit note I couldn’t pin down - citrus ... boy, almost a 9. Taste has more resin, less fruit, a little "red" - thick, astringent, decent carbonation, a surprisingly fast medium-length finish, left some of that tart fruit malt behind and a light pithy resin coating - solid stuff.
