Bottle @ home. Pours absolutely pitch black with a dark brown head. Looks fantastic. Aroma of hard roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Taste is like the aroma but also has notes of vanilla, molasses and wood. The overall taste is sweet and the long aftertaste is burned and dry. Very oily mouthfeel and low carbonation. VERY smooth.

Black color with perfect brown head, lacing glass. Lovely aroma. Dark chocolate, black coffee, grain coffee, roasted malts. Taste is complex. Dark chocolate, black coffee, roasted malts, some dried fruits, vanilla, licorice, a bit smoky, wood, leather. Warming bitter/sweet finish. Medium body with medium carbonation. Texture is oily, velvet. Great beer, it’s taste like gentle Imperial Stout. Very drinkable.

Great full palate here. Pours black with good head and lacing. Huge musky, pungent roast aroma. Malt is great. Pours cloudy black with good head and lacing. Finishes bitter with lightest burnt taste. Comes together awesome. Better than their BIPA. Tap at Church key.

33cl bottle, bottled Aug 2013. Black oily look, thin dark brown head, lasting. Roasted aroma, licorice, wood, coffee. Nice. Flavor has dark chocolate, molasses, coffee, woody notes. Smooth, woody, slightly thin perhaps. Good. Liked the aroma alot, complex and full.

Bottle from Beer Emporium, Bristol. Almost black in colour with a thin, brown head. Big, plain chocolate and black coffee aroma, with some oak and a hint of marmite. Full, slightly boozy mouth feel with some chocolate depth, charred wood and touch of hop, before a dryish, warm finish. Very good.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons, Coquelles, France. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate, some liquorice. Nice complexity for the strength. Very good stout from Buxton.
