3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Churchkey from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate and the typical underlying stout character with Brett, tart dark fruit, vinous character, this was ok but not my favorite while I was there.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle Generation III - 2013 @ Buxton Tap House - Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: roasted malt, coffee balanced with high sourness and tart notes. Brett notes. Very disappointed... Taste: full body with roasted malt but strange brett and strange tart taste. Definitely not for me. Aftertaste: tart sourness. Not good...

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomba Generation 4. 33cl bottle at home from Buxton taproom. Nose is sour cherry, cloves, milk chocolate. Body is pitch black, head is small, brownish, creamy, fully lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is herbs, wood, liqueur, milk chocolate, vodka. Light sweet, medium bitter, light fruity sour, medium umami. Finish is long lasting roasty medium bitter, medium umami, light alcohol warmth. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not too easy, very strange, interesting but not that good.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not hugely into this one. Bretta is a little strong for what I’d want a stout to be. Lots of the former. Some roast, chocolate and caramel. Black pour with ok head and lacing. Bitter sour finish. Not a fan. Tap at porter beer pub in Georgia or wherever I am right now.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
10%ABV. Imperial Stout.
Tapped out black. 40ºSRM.
Head. Now I don’t usually comment on the head, but this one had such a beautifully rich head that looked nothing short of sinful, like an extra thick crema from a dark espresso roast.
Nose is is just rich and thick with the aromas of opulence: leather, leaf tobacco, Cohiba cigars, oak, and pipe smoke. There is a heavy medicinal alcholic nose to this one. Just the hook you’re expecting with an imperial stout. There is also a rich aroma of roasted black sesame seeds.
Mouthfeel is soapy. Palate is certainly dark malt and alcoholic. Front of the palate has the strong limestone like funk of a bat cave or drying oyster shells with a slightly fishy oily tang like cod liver oil, and before I write about the next thing, a rounded, full umami like palate (this is the part that most reminds me of an oyster stout), then sliding into the briefly sweet malt flavors that then segue into ripe stone fruit, raw black honey, and near the end has a pleasant herbal quality to it that is reminiscent of Ricola or Pei Pa Ko (a veritable Asian tradition which is a syrupy medicinal preparation made from honey, loquats and other herbal goodies)
Finish is predictably sticky and treacle-like.
Goes on Favorites List!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Churchkey. Silky stout with amazing warmth that creeps up on you. Aroma yields normal, rich roasty smells, but flavor kicks it up a notch, and then the finish comes in with a gentle wallop. Really nice, really smooth.

Tap at CASC Aberdeen. Pours opaque black with a thick mocha brown head which reduces to a thin and thick layer. Aroma is cocoa, raisins, oak and leather. 3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled as bomba generation 4.the aroma takes some getting used to. Hints of liquorice, chocolate and coffee, plus some tart sour notes from the yeast. Quite a thin mouthfeel for its abv, this is easy to drink, and ends with some quite fresh fruity influence. interesting.
