COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle conditioned; Regular.

Tsar is rich and powerful, a full bodied Imperial Stout. Malty chocolate, mocha and dark berry fruit-notes preside over a subtle hop profile, whilst a smooth velvety texture in the mouth gives way to a lingering bitter, dark chocolate finish

330 ml bottle from Redmonds. Black, small foamy tan coloured head, lasts and great lacing. Cocoa, espresso, leather, dark chocolate, malt roasted to within an inch of it’s life in the aroma, yet it’s not over powering. Flavour is intense resiny bitter coffee, more dark Belgian chocolate. Thick, luscious oily mouthfeel, coats the palette. Very little carbonation. Finish is intensely coffee bitter. Superb.

ContemplateBeer (1543) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 25, 2014
UPDATED: APR 26, 2014 Aroma: Semi sweet, intense chocolate- maybe more chocolate than I’ve tasted in another beer. Additionally, some vanilla/waffle cone and a substantial roast character to boot. Appearance: Very oily black pour with a dense bubbly mocha head that settled into a bubbly, ever present skin. Flavor: Chocolate all the way, but some more waffle cone and roast comes through shortly thereafter; a puff of raisin liquer brings things to a conclusion. Palate: Light body, oily texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: Not an IS you hear a lot about, but among the best I’ve had. Drank this while listening to the Mount Doom chapter of LOTR as read by Phil Dragash. A fitting pair.

Barwa: czarna, nie przejrzysta nawet pod światło. Piana brązowa, średniej wielkości, drobno pęcherzykowa, ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: czekolada gorzka, kawa, palone słody, lekka kwaskowość i ciemne owoce. Zdecydowana nuta alkoholowa. Smak: słodowy, pełny, jedynie lekko słodki, z wyraźną wytrawną kontrą i konkretną goryczką. Czekolada gorzka, owoce oraz zdecydowana alkoholowa końcówka i delikatna kwaskowość.

Bottle, 9.5%. Sweet, jammy aroma. Black colour, seems clear. Big stable dark brown head. The flavour is nicely hoppy, grassy and piney. Sweet and roasted. Does not taste so bitter, but probably is. Low carbonation.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with stable dark tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel, fruit and liquorice. Bitter, roasty flavour, with sweet notes of caramel malt, fruit and coffee. Warming alcohol presence. Bitter aftertaste. A nice one.
