COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle conditioned; Regular.

Tsar is rich and powerful, a full bodied Imperial Stout. Malty chocolate, mocha and dark berry fruit-notes preside over a subtle hop profile, whilst a smooth velvety texture in the mouth gives way to a lingering bitter, dark chocolate finish

Bottle 4 of my Buxton mini tasting night. Christmas present Thanks to s_hartshorne for this big want. Black beer with large tan head and good lacing. Aroma of cocoa, dark fruits and roast coffee. Taste is bitter coffee, roasted malts, smoke, dark fruits and some chocolate. Medium bodied. Excellent beer, solid.

Bottle 0,33l. Appearance: Black, with huge brown lead, that stays for a long time. Amazing, how thgis beer looks in the glass. Aroma: some hoppy notes - herbal, grass, pine, citrus - and after that there is a lot of dark chocolate and coffee. Taste: absolutely fantastic mixture of dark chocolate, roasted coffee and nice dark fruits. After this there is very pleasent, long bitterness. Oily texture. Additional notes: If only it was a little bit much more intensive, it would be a perfect RIS, but is it absolutely wonderful!

330ml bottle at the Local Pub, Athens. Black color with big beige brown frothy head. Aroma is roasted malty, coffee, light chocolate, very hoppy, pine, grassy, floral notes. Sweet and bitter like the aroma, lot of hoppy bitterness. Medium oily body with soft carbonation and bitter hoppy finish. It’s like a black IPA.

Great stuff. Thick dark pour with great head and carpet lacing. Lots of roast and chocolate and well-balanced overall. Bitter finish. Pungent roast - gets into your sinuses. Creamy texture. Wonderful. Tap at Churchkey.

Butelka 0,33. Piana na poczatku spora szybko opada i ladnie oblepia szklo. Aromat ciemne slody, kawa wisnia i czekolada pomieszane z angielskim chmielem ( fuggles?) i alkoholem. W smaku dosyc wytrawne nie ulozone palonosc alko+ chmiel. Pilem dosyc swieze butelkowane 3 miesiace temu zdecydowanie powinno polezec. Druga butelka laduje w piwnicy.

12oz bottle I picked up a while back pours a translucent, nearly opaque black with brown edges and a ringing of beige head. Nose has a mix of roasted malt and molasses along with with lots of dark and dried fruit, prunes, raisins, mission figs, licorice too, a little bit of rubber, some booze too. Flavor has some candlewax, molasses, very heavy licorice, prunes, raisins, cherry cola, chocolate. Full bodied, sweet finish. A bit of roasty bitterness on the end.

The first words out of my mouth were "Ooooohhhh...richness!" so that sums it up. Opaque, dense and unfathomably onyx with an almost impossibly creamy dark-tan head. Potent notes of licorice, chocolate, oak, smoke, leather, burnt toffee and booze. Taste, quite luckily for me, is the same. The body is nice and thick and oily, could be a tad chewier for me though. This is a very complex beer with a dry, bitter finish that leaves lingering notes of smoke, licorice and booze. Not for the faint of heart!
