Tsar is rich and powerful, a full bodied Imperial Stout. Malty chocolate, mocha and dark berry fruit-notes preside over a subtle hop profile, whilst a smooth velvety texture in the mouth gives way to a lingering bitter, dark chocolate finish

Barwa: czarna, nie przejrzysta nawet pod światło. Piana brązowa, średniej wielkości, drobno pęcherzykowa, ładnie oblepiająca szkło. Aromat: czekolada gorzka, kawa, palone słody, lekka kwaskowość i ciemne owoce. Zdecydowana nuta alkoholowa. Smak: słodowy, pełny, jedynie lekko słodki, z wyraźną wytrawną kontrą i konkretną goryczką. Czekolada gorzka, owoce oraz zdecydowana alkoholowa końcówka i delikatna kwaskowość.

Bottle, 9.5%. Sweet, jammy aroma. Black colour, seems clear. Big stable dark brown head. The flavour is nicely hoppy, grassy and piney. Sweet and roasted. Does not taste so bitter, but probably is. Low carbonation.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with stable dark tan head. Dark aroma of malt, caramel, fruit and liquorice. Bitter, roasty flavour, with sweet notes of caramel malt, fruit and coffee. Warming alcohol presence. Bitter aftertaste. A nice one.

Appearance: pitch black with a thick tan, long-lasting head. Awesome lacing. Aroma: dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee and roastiness. Not very intense, but really good, just the way it should smell. Taste: first comes the intense roastiness, followed by dark chocolate and coffee. Some delicate notes of cocoa in the back. Bitterness is medium. Alcohol is hidden very well, almost untraceable. Some small hints in the aftertaste, but that’s because I drank this beer in room temperature. Pretty warming. Mouthfeel: thick, oily, full bodied, soft carbonation. Superb. Overall: maybe not mindblowing, but almost perfect russian imperial stout. Plus the name Tsar makes this beer even better. Really, this is probably the best way to name a beer in this style. Enjoyed in a teku glass.

Has a sort of sticky molasses flavor going on that detracts. A little sweet, with some mild cocoa notes, but I cannot get over the sort of meaty character it has. Not terrible but not my favorite.

Bottle. Nose is really heavy salt and soy sauce, there’s some roast and chocolate but they’re only perceptible if everything else gets out of the way. Sweet with a touch of yeast. Pours dark brown-black with ruby highlights showing under the bottom edge, with a creamy light brown head. Watery-light body is yeasty and creamy in the mouth, moderately dry with light bitterness, perhaps a bit more depending on the mood, flavors given over to gentle rolled roast and a bit of subdued chocolate. Red and purple berries in small measure with resolution to a pleasant neutral yeast. Actually strikes a pretty good balance! Velvety feel (flatness is no insult!) is perhaps this offering’s best asset, there’s some alcohol showing but nothing unbecoming, and all things considered there’s a meekness here I find very attractive, though mildness is too often frowned upon in my native land. I’d down several pints if given the chance, though my eyes could read the danger.
