goldtwins (3668), Nesconset, New York, USA Apr 22, 2008 Poured a hazy deep golden brown color. the aroma was tart with big leather and some woody notes. Tart and woody flavor with a cranberry middle. Bretty dry bitter finish. Light to medium bodied.
Alldaydrinker (443), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA May 24, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a murky ruby brown color with a medium off white fluffy head. Nose is pungent, tart, cranberries, light barnyard funk, leather, and some oak. Tasted at 48 degrees. Actively carbonated that sharply attacks the palate, tart cranberries and light funk. 55 degrees and higher really shined through as expected, carbonation leveled off to mild wet palate. Initial taste of tart cranberry juice, barnyard funk, saltiness, oak and some smoke. Mid palate to finish continues with tart cranberries, mild hint of cocoa and grape skins. Palate duration is average but enjoyable. Dry finish. Head retention is excellent with good lacing of the glass. Light to medium body, very easy drinking and perfect for any celebration. Lumpy (1530), Carrollton, Texas, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle. Nose-horse, light funk, very clean, urea, no funk as it warms, light leather. Body-almost still dark brown. Taste-medium sour, light funk, very geuze like, leathery, very good geuze mouthfeel, very light red fruits. Very good geuze, but not very fruity. Enjoyable-would be a great everyday drinker. JoeMcPhee (3612), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Apr 22, 2008 Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing. Dark brown beer with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is quite tart and vineous with a bit of light lactic tartness and a bit of horsey funkiness. Flavour is less tart than the aroma suggests. A bit of chocolatey character and a bit of nice sweetness on the back. Lingering earthiness. Quite vineous and a very unusual sour ale, but despite that, I quite like it. notalush (1951), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Apr 22, 2008 Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing - fizzy, dark amber beer - the aroma is equal parts tart cranberry skins and cherry sweetness, with some chocolate and warming spices - some tartness/acidity up front, but not as much as the aroma suggests - some mild earthy funk and fruit skins - a wee bit of leathery character - some red wine tannins - chocolate and a bit of sweetness arrive late, as do the cranberries - this is a really solid brew.
