Aroma is barrel-butter with a weird sourness, sort of like tangerine magic marker sourness. Bot what I consider traditional brett (but also something I have noticed is similar to other American sours). Taste is weird as well, sugary (not akin to faro) with an abrasive light sourness. The sourness is not so strong, also no acidity. Not sure how much I dig it but definitely worth a try. Summary: lightly paint thinner with a sugary-sweet backbone. Mouthfeel is a bit thick and heavy for what I prefer in a beer like this. puzzl (1624), New York, New York, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle from Pantanap. A rather large disappointment. Light, sweet, sucrose aroma. Very woody, also a bit vegetal and rotten. Dark ruddy pour with a great head. Flavor is a very lightly funky, lightly vegetal slop, overrun by wood and the same dull, metallic yeast found in the Buzzards Bay Cranberry Lambic. I was hoping this one may offer a more authentic experience than the cranberry, but it tastes almost the exact same, minus the fruit. Totally lacks assertiveness and character, not to mention body and sourness. holdenn (1075), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 1, 2008 750ml bottle sampled at DLD thanks to Kan for opening this up. Pours a dark hazed orange with a beige head. Nose is barnyard, cheese, a yeast funk. A bit dusty with a bit of wood. The flavors are a leathery cheese musty yeasty sour. Almost chewy texture. Finished dry and tart. Really really tasty brew. One of my favorite beers of the day. Thanks kan! Ughsmash (2773), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 Many thanks to Kan for opening this at DLD! Poured hazy medium golden with a looser cap of white head. The aroma picked up a nice vinegar and shredded fruit skin tartness accented by lightly-toasted oak.. light herbal notes showed as well.. somewhat restrained. The flavor had a building fruit and vinegary tartness paired with peppery spices and a dusty, mildly funky yeast presence.. finished dry with a refreshing tartness. Sour and dry on the palate with nice balance.. really good stuff! masonjer (384), Lansing, Michigan, USA Apr 29, 2008 Thanks so much to Kan for sharing at DLD. Poured a burnt orange/brown color. Bit of citrus and sour fruit funk on the nose. Flavors are earthy, funky, with a touch of wood. Nothing overpowering here, almost too reserved. Would have liked a bigger finish as well, but still a really nice accessable sour.
