Buzzards Bay MaiBock

Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of honey, some caramel, sweet malt, flowers, earthy. Tastes of light spice with some earthiness to it. Decent.

This beer pours a clear pale orange, and amber color. there is not much of a head to it, but it does have some nice laceing around the glass. It has a honey and mildly earty aroma to it which is very hard to pick out since it is not that strong. this initial flavor is very bitter and hoppy. There is alsom a nice citrus after taste, but the palate is very weak not much to it the flavor tends to fade rather quickly. Although the flavor is rather spicy like pepper the palate is very weak.

Pours out clear golden colour with a foamy off-white head with moderate retention and spotty lacing. The nose really pops with bright hoppy citrus notes, honey and slightly earthy caramel. The flavour is fruity, slightly bitter hops and a bit of peppery spice and even some smoke. The malt presence is more subdued than hidden. The dry hopping doesn’t seem intense enough to overcome what would have been a solid malt backbone, especially at a modest 28IBU’s. I can’t deny that it is refreshing and that the mouthfeel is effective in being quenching and relatively full for the style. A nice offering overall. Needs some eathiness.

Golden translucent color, slighly hoppy smell but reminiscent of a macrobeer. peppery bite, mild bitterness somewhat soapy aftertaste-was looking for more maltiness
