Cask in the Kings Head W2. Deepish red brown colour. Slightly murky, white head. Strong fresh hop characterplus toasty amber malts. If this were American would clearly be an amber ale. Good combination lf bitter hoppy fruitiness and solid malts. A nice modern beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask, handpump at The Parcel Yard, Kings Cross Station, London, Wednesday 26th March 2014 Pours a reddy/brown colour with a off-white creamy head. This is an excellent ESB its tangy, fruity yet with a pleasant little seam of hops, really good beer. Nice malty character throughout, fresh and very, very moreish. I donít see so many really good ESBís these days but in a changing beer world with more golden hoppy beers coming to the fore here is a very good example. I reckon Steve Silktork would really like this beer! A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Aroma: light caramel malts, some fruits, bit grassy. Appearance: dark amber, small white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: getting very bitter very quickly
Overall: OK ESB, maybe a bit too bitter for me. Pint at the Cat & Canary, Canary Wharf.

Bottle. Thanks bigbro. Pours clear red to chestnut with a large, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has caramel, red berries, mild chocolate. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good crisp malts, chocolate, red berries, a bit grainy. Quite bitter lingering finish. A bit of yeasty off-notes. Good though.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at The Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt and light red berry fruit. The flavour is medium bitter with a spicy pepper hop bitter light barnyard palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. This isnít half bad. Iím not a red ale fan (bad experience with that horrible Murphyís stuff) but this was great. I love drinking back in the UK and this is one of the reasons why!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hand-pulled half-pint in The Lord Clifton, a pub in Birmingham, on 8th Feb 2014.
Red hue to this clear copper coloured beer, a thinning white head sat on top.
Slightly more malts in the nose than hop aromas: fruity and semi-sweet with a mild citrus bitterness in there somewhere.
The taste was also a mixture of flavours, again with the malts just being the dominant factor. Traces of wood and nut flavours mingled with the light malts and fruitiness. Quite a pleasant blend.
Medium body depth and with enough flavour to hide the alcohol nicely.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2014)
Nice clear red, small loose head. Clean fresh bitter hop aroma. Taste also has clear hops ,whole cones, dusty and resiny. Thinnish palate. soft carbonation. Finish dry and drying. Great hops, nice for a reddish ale, normally reds I donít like.
