Bottle at home in London. Pours black-brown with a strong, beige froth head. Aroma holds modest roast, some juicy citrus, burnt pine. Light to medium sweet flavor with some earthy roast, burnt sugars, dried citrus, dirt, charred wood. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Lightly resinous to finish, some dry roast, some lemon, orange. It’s a decent black IPA but it could use some more teeth.

Cask at The Rake tap takeover, London. It pours a deep brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted with piny hoppy notes. Pine needles and resin above all. Taste has notes of toasted malts, licorice and caramel. Some citrussy and pine wood as well. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, good BIPA

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear Beer Fest 2014. Mahogany brown coloured pour with a fleeting loose light tan head. Aroma is earthy pine needle, orange peel, little presin and brown malt. Flavour is composed of earthy roasty malts, nut malts, medium sweet, light resin. A little citrus in the finish. Decent

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

Unclear dark brown color with tiny size body particels, a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate to heavy hoppy, herbs, grass, light pine, light wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate - dark roasted, licorice, hoppy, dry, light salty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20131222]

33 cl bottle.
Pours black color with a small head. Aroma is somewhat burnt and resinous, not that hoppy really, sweet caramel and some malts also. Flavor is somewhat chocolaty, resinous hops and sadly ..vegetables, oh how I hate thee.. almost liked the dry fruity palate but the veggies are too strong in this one. There are some faint licorice and dry ashy malt notes but it doesn’t save much. I would have liked to like this but I guess not.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Dark brown to black color, medium sized lightly creamy off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell just lightly malts and some hops, but that might be the result of a couple of days of extreme pollen allergy. Taste malts, hops, moderately bitter. I miss the roastyness. Maybe there’s a slight roasty touch in the finish, but I had hoped for more.

Bottle @ home shared by me. Black colour with a small off-white to beige head. Smells slightly hoppy.. Not a lot of smell. Tastes slightly hoppy, sweet, slightly malty. Not what you would expect from a black ipa. Thin body, soft carbo.

33cl bottle. From AbM. Best Before 17/10/2014. Near black in color, lasting, brown thick head. Roasted malt, cocoa, fruity hops in aroma, delicious! Flavor has roastedness, licorice, cocoa, ash and piney hoppy notes. Dry long finish. Medium bodied. Nice BIPA, tasty stuff. OK balance.

#dark brown black with tan pillowy head collapsing to a lacing. Rich pine and redcurrants on nose, fairly bitter with roast barley and burnt toast notes, medium bodied and carbonation, long finish. Ok but not the greatest BIPA

Bottle 330ml (as "Hopslinger Black IPA", AbM)
Deep ruby color, good brownish head, lace. Licorice, yeast, some hops in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lots of salted licorice in the flavor, toasted malts and nice piney bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid CDA.
