A truly London Bitter brewed in the most traditional way. This best bitter is brewed with British Malt, Yeast and Hops, with London water, passion and heritage. Very rarely do we make a true British beer, but here it is.

Cadk gravity at Tonbridge Siba 2014. Clear amber lasting beige. Fair standard bitter bit of gooseberry. Ok but a funny sharp flavour

Cask at the Le Gothique Wandsworth Beer Festival on 29 March 2013. Poured a slightly hazy copper, with a rocky white head. Aroma of floral hops, freshly cut grass and bread dough. Grassy hop flavour, with grain and ripe berries. Finish was red currant, cake and gentle hop resin.

Cask conditioned at The Olde Swan, Chertsey, Surrey. Amber with slight white head. This was quite a sweet but thinnish malty beer, some fruitiness perhaps, hints of peach but overall a little underwhelming.

Cask pint in The Kings Head, currently renamed as a pop-up bar ’Off With His Head’. Clear dark chestnut brown beer, with a medium very foamy fresh slightly off white. Nose is nutty, earthy English hops, caramel. Taste is earthy, caramel, nutty, some slightly tangy dry hop astringent flavours on tongue.

Bottle, from Oddbins London Bridge, split at Colin and the Vikings tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is bready, light puke, bitter fruit, vegetal, toe nail clippings. Taste comprises light orchard fruit, bready, yeast, malt background. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Not good - infected, another poor turn out from By The Horns of late.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally sourish aroma, a touch of gooseberry. Taste is bitter, strawy, notes of unripe gooseberry. One dimensional, boring.
