COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Pale with a big character all to itself. Once in the glass it has an outwardly simple and easy going golden appearance but it comes with lots of baggage! A well balanced mellow malt gives the beer a clear and rich body whilst a myriad of well selected hops leaves the beer with a wonderfully crisp late bitter finish.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 10th November 2011. Amber with thin whitish head and full light lacing. Malt, caramel and grassy hops in aroma. Rich hoppiness lasts to a finish that satisfies before fruitiness returns late on in the aftertaste.

Bottle (3.9% abv), picked up the London-section @Utobeer Market Stalls. Pours a lively bright golden body. Tall, mostely lasting blond head. Fresh hop nose. Apples, grass and faint toasted malts. Taste is hop forward. Solid bitterness, light zesty hop flavor. Restraind semi-dry malt body. Feels full for a 3.9 percenter. Lingering bitterness in a lasting finish. A quaffable all-nighter.

Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’12 as Stiff Upper Lip. Hazy orange gold with no head. This proved to be particularly dry and bitter with a sharp lemon pith type flavour. Not too much depth and a little confused due to the slight lack of conditioning, but still a very decent beer.

On gravity at the brewery open day. Now named Stiff Upper Lip and 3.9%. Clear gold and crisp, with a big biscuity body well balanced by dry-bitter citrussy hops.

Cask at The London Brewers Showcase 2011. Pours clear, pure gold with a foamy, white head. Pleasant bready aroma, slight citrus zest. Lightly sweet flavor, tons of bread, biscuits, sticks and wood, mild bitterness, some leaves, hay and straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry finish, some toast, straw and hay, light sweetness. Extremely decent beer.
