Keg at The Rake tap takeover, London. It pours a light amber color with a thin bubbly head. Aroma is lightly sweet with notes of ripe fruits, a little beady, with a lingering mild citrus hop bite. The hops presence dominates the flavor, followed by a earthy fruitiness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Very refreshing, but somewhat raw.

330 ml bottle, as By the Horns Wolfie Smith Amber IPA, from the Norwegian importer. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Nice hoppy aroma of grapefruit, spruce and pine. Soft mouthffeel. Flavour of smoke, ashes, pine and sharp bittering hops. Not good, unbalanced.

mgajdaczewa (611) - Katowice, POLAND - DEC 2, 2014
W aromacie sporo herbaty, lekka kwiatowość i żółte owoce, sporo miodu, niestety utlenione, mimo to aromat niezły.

tfredvik (1208) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 8, 2014
Pours a hazy and fairly pale amber body with some visible sediments and a large, creamy, off-white head. Fairly strong aroma of tropical fruits, mainly spicy mango. Quite strong flavour of soapy tropical fruits, a touch of caramel, some gentle spices and floral hints. A bit stinging moderate bitter finish, not much sweetness. Dry and chalky mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, fairly light-bodied. A decent one, but I prefer more caramel and less soap.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

[ As By The Horns Wolfie Smith Amber Ale ].
Clear medium orange amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, moderate hoppy, fruity hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long duration, nutty, orange, hoppy, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20140715]

ClubGonzo (4240) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 29, 2014
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber-hued orange body with a large creamy off-white head and lots of sediments. Aroma is huge lemony citric notes, citric peel, grass, peaches and hints of apricot. Taste is citric peel, earthy wet leaves, mild pine, grass and hints of hay and apricot. Medium body and carbonation and a dry, near-parching mouthfeel. The contrast between the extremely lemony citrus tones in the aroma and the rather earthy hop profile in the taste is striking and a little disturbing, somehow. Decent enough, but no winner.

Scopey (7455) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 11, 2014
Keg at the brewery. It pours lightly hazy golden-amber with a thick white head. The nose is malt-driven, bready, toasty grain, hay and mild spice. The taste is crisp, bitter, breadth, toasty grain, pine, light sweetness with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent bready affair.
