Bottle conditioned. Oily with a well-maintained, thickly lacing tan foam. Ripe, spicy, strudel-like juiciness in the nose over subtler, dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee-inflected tones. Fine flavour humming with a red polished apple and blueberry fruitiness underpinned with burnt toast, high cocoa and hop bitterness. Deeply smothered with berry, blackcurrant and bitter chocolate notes. Finally nutty and ash-sprinkled. Feels like it’s been brewed for years. Byatt’s continue to impress- and this is probably their best yet.
