COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Harkening back to old world brewing styles, Cable Car handcrafts each and every small batch. This Amber Ale is 100% all-malt brewed in the Marzen Style. Rich and malty, it’s balanced with mild hop and smooth flavor. Enjoy the ride!

Note: Moved in 2008 from City Brewery to Genesee in Rochester, NY. Changed over time from a 5.7% beer to a 4.5% beer with honey added.

So I’m travelling through Florida trying to find a liquor store to buy some beer... I ask a gas attendant, and they tell me to go to a Winn-Dixie..... Well, I found this beer at the Dixie. I feel sorry for the southerners, because this was the best the grocery had to offer.... Not bad.

Pretty color. Price attracted buy. Disgusting after taste and lacks aroma.

Very disappointed. I was excited for the small batch and the fact that it was next to some good beers at Whole Foods. Did not enjoy it. No aroma and very little taste.

Not what I was expecting, but the best of the 4 Cable Car "small batch" varieties I’ve tried. Pours an amber color (duh!) with little or no head or lacing. Smells like honey and alcohol. Aroma is pleasantly malty with no hops that I can detect.. Has a slightly oily texture. Taste is sweet, and the finish is malty.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber color with a two finger head that abruptly reduces to a thin film. Scarce lacing. Mild malt aroma. Flavor is pretty mild as well. Clean and easy drinking but the depth of flavor and thin mouthfeel leave something to be desired.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 with hardly any film on the sides. As the beer went on down, the lacing just about dissipated, but the film stayed on the sides. Was a light, honey color. First smell was pure alcohol and it was a heavy odor. That went away quick to mainly honey and a slight hint of grains. Initial taste was honey, followed by a small amount of malts. Simple taste. Not a bad feel. Smooth, refreshing and an easy drink, unlike some ambers I’ve tried lately. Average carbonation. It was my first beer of a 10-pack variety and it was so-so. Smooth and refreshing, but not much else.

Pours a crystal clear amber color with a thin white head, no lacing, and good carbonation. Smells like a lager, corn, barley, grass, etc..Suprise it tastes a lot like it smells. There’s a hint of malt in there somewhere muted in the background. Easy to drink, super boring.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Malt and light toast aroma. Malt and light grain flavor. Medium bodied. Malt and grain linger with light grass.

[Bottle] Pours a very light orange color with a thin head. Caramel, molasses and dust in the aroma. Sweet and cloying amber malts are just about all I get out of this one. Very little hop bitterness. Finish is sweet and mildly grassy/vegetal. Thin and quite boring. Not terrible though, considering its source.
