COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

500ml nitro can listed at 4.8%alc/vol poured a pale amber color with a massive off-white head that retained well and left some thick lacing on the glass. Aroma is light malts and earthy hops. Taste is light malty sweetness with an interesting earthy hop bitterness which did not appeal to my tastes. Otherwise, this is a decent quality ale and was somewhat enjoyable.

Can 440 ml from Geoffrey’s - Antibes (F). Nice red-amber beer, nitro, leaving a creamy and smooth foam sticking on the glass. Nose of malt, earthy hop. Fresh mouth, silent, watery, earthy notes, slight roasted and cream. Beer smooth, slippery, easy to drink. Finale leaves the mouth dry.

pours amber with a thick creamy head. aroma is fruity, taste is smooth, dense, some sweetness, chocolate, with a creamy finish. its a tasty beverage.

On tap. Gold to amber pour. Beauty thick cream head. Beyond that, nothing interesting here. Smells dusty metallic. Creamy medium body. Almost flavorless. Low alcohol and low taste. Nothin offensive about it but I basically just drank a pint of weak tea. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can in Lanzarote. Label says: new, 3,8% ABV. Hazy yellow to dark blonde colour, very dense head. Aroma is slightly bitter. Smooth taste, almost no carbonation. After all a short finish but refreshening.

500 ml can. 3.8% abv.
Pours a clear orange copper colour with a nice creamy head thanks to the nitro. Aroma of grassy hops, flowers and some caramel. Flavour of grassy hops, toffee, nuts, bready malts and hay. Light bodied and thin mouthfeel with a clean, slightly bitter finish. Really a session beer.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2012 Can from Wetherspoon. Amber colour with a creamy white head. Light hoppy aroma with some sweet malt. Mild flavour and a bit flat.
