COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

I’m sorry. I really am. I didn’t mean for THIS to be my 100th beer. It wasn’t awful, but I wanted to celebrate with a bang. Anyway, it came from a nitro keg. It looked a darker gold colour. Wasn’t unappealing, but it lacked that bitter aftertaste that I’ve grown to love.

Not bad. Very mild and not particularly noteworthy. The best thing about this beer is its great mouth feel. Nice flavors too but much too understated. Needs to be a bit more assertive to get my attention. A good beer though.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2006 On tap: Light copper. Yeasty/malty notes with some incidence of basement or wet dog as it warms. Very easy drinking, low carbonation and alcohol. Not overly bitter, not overly sweet. A touch minerally. Refreshing, tasty and smooth.

Can
Nice amber color, hazy; very nice creamy head. The aroma is a bit malty. The flavor is very smooth, but too simple, with some malt and residual sweetness. The palate is quite simple as well.

Pale amber coloured. Has a lasting creamy white head. I think this beer feels rather tasteless, I must say! But it leaves some flowery taste.

Smooth and creamy. I always get this one mixed up with Kilkenny because they are very simlar both in appearance and texture. Very drinkable, but not amazing.

A boring taste, not a good ale at all.Another flat ale from Ireland, yuk. Stis got three in the fridge, there they will remain probably until they go skunky, hopefully the taste will improve then.

Pint at The Stageing Post ,Aberdeen ,Scotland. Very attractive amber, slighly hazed with a absolutlly gorgeous creamy white head. Pretty lackluster in the aroma departmant, but not unpleasant. Very pleasant malty taste with a touch of hops to tingle the tongue. Exceptionally smooth on the palate..very easy going stuff. Quite drinkable but could become boring after a while.
