COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

(can) - Possibly my least favorite UK ale - not much aroma. Moderate hops bitterness but picks up a great deal of metallic flavor. Might be better in bottle or tap - unpleasant from a can.

Clear copper-brown color. Steady cream head. Sweet and a bit roasted nose. Smooth mouthfeel, but very very watery. Malty backbone but not much anything else.

Golden amber color, light malty aroma and taste, medium body, light bitter finish.

Had a pint of this at one of those sort of bars that has about 10 taps, with 7 of them being shitty domestic macros, and the other three being Stella, Guinness and this so they can brag about having "great imports on tap!" Looks nice in the glass, but the nitro kills most of the aroma and flavour. If you’re looking for "smooth and creamy", I guess this would be appealing, but I’d prefer some flavour, thanks.

Thought I liked this beer my first trip to London. Then I realized I liked it because I hadn’t had anything else. On the smoothflow tap, this was 5.2% and had a bit of a kick in the aftertaste, which didn’t help. Metallic, not smooth as advertised. Did pour a nice amber color.

Thise nitrocan gives the beers a fine good head. Too bad this brewer dosn’t put some good beer in the can. A little more bitter than the rest.

Nitro can. Buttery toffee aroma. Easy drinking with a little bitterness. Not bad for a nitro can

Draught at Brooksby Agricultural College, Leics. Soft, fairly boring beer. Ruddy colouring, with a light malty flavour and metallic notes, most notably in the finish. Bland.
