COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

I do have a soft spot for this creamy ale, but that has more to do with the pubs I used to drink it in than the beer itself. Fruitier than other cream ales, it does go down well, but aftertaste is disappointing. Easy to drink, and you could do worse, but this beer is better in my memories than in my current sampling.

I would drive hours to find this, and still have memories of sipping on one in a London Pub.

Canned. Amber body with a nice creamy head. Weak malty and fruity nose. Bittersweet flavor with some nut, caramel and malt. Quite nice and tastefull bur a little dull.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2005 Smoooooth! You could drink a bathtub full of this stuff before you realized that you were drinking beer. Had this one in Heathrow some time ago and was psyched when I could later get it in the local supermarket in the widget cans.

On opening the can I got a lovely aroma, but it disappeared quickly. I've never had an ale this pale before, and I don't intend to again. This ale might be great for someone who really hates ale, and would like a glass of water instead.

a decent cream ale with a professional appearance. Other than that, there isn't much I can say. Average taste at best.

Canned, widget. Given this at a relative's. Sickly sweet amber beer, all foam. Burnt forced malt with a tinny chemical background. Absolute pants.

Crockett (916) - Steelback County, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 3, 2004
UPDATED: FEB 4, 2004 Clear amber, foamy white head. Creamy mouth feel. Mild alcohol and maltiness. Very still. Bitter burnt flavours, some sour notes. Very weak late chocolate and toffee. Too still, and no oomph. ( was not nitrogenated.)
