12th August 2007 Warning! Early amateur rating! Smooth palate. Creamy malt - a little rich. Some mild hop. Actually not too bad - was slightly better on Draft.
2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 igniztion (313) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 3, 2011
Can 440ml. (Nitro-can) Pours clear amber with a full, lasting off-white head with good lacing. Aromas is very weak, but some barely noticable bread and dough. Taste is bitter sweet. Watery bodied and creamy, very soft to flat carbonation.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Rettep (897) - SWEDEN - JAN 3, 2011
Can. Amber with a creamy white head leaving some lacing. Thin aroma, struggling to find anything. Taste: not that much, bready, biscuity malt, some grassy hops, low bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Average, and kind of boring.

It’s annoying that this is another beer, that appears to be the product of a certain area and is actually produced elsewhere. That aside, this is different from how I remember the beer from a decade or more ago. I never liked it back then finding it too creamy. This beer still has the thick creamy head, but beneath that it tastes thin and watery, reminds me of Boddingtons, which is another beer which has now moved to be produced miles away from where it started, grrrr
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jaghana (1800) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - OCT 19, 2010
Can 50cl. A clear golden beer with medium head. A basic bitter with a real hops presence specially at the finish, medium to low malty. Easy drinkable, classic in the average.

I’m afraid I have to say, that this is one of the beers that got me really disappointed. I were to choose between Kilkenny, Guinness and Caffrey’s draught at a bar.. I never did have tried it before ..
A great pour. Looking nice with a light amber colour and a creamy nitrogen foam. So that’s great for starters ...
But drinking it was like having a glass of water with a slightly creamy feel to it.. Almost like lemon flavoured sparkling water that’s gone flat.. Not much carbonation (which is not necessarily bad) and being very hush on nose or taste. Only a slight citrus and some distant malt. VERY watery ..
Maybe this is not my kind of beer style, I haven’t tasted any beer like this one before. I have tried Guinness, Kilkenny, Murphey’s etc.. but this once is not what I was anticipating as an Irish beer.. I’m maybe out of my league for rating irish draught ales .. But this is how I experienced it ..

Originally rated February 2005. Caffrey’s Premium Draught poured an amber colour with a very nice cascade-effect. The slightly off-white head was creamy and had long and thick retention. The nose is very faint, not much going on except grain malt. Taste is very, very smooth with a light bitter aftertaste. Also some sweet malt. I remember this beer tasting a bit more when bought at a bar on Draught. Still a great brew.
