COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

I went through a period where I loved the nitro keg stuff and how I loved this. Now I a very over that and find this to be a very average beer. Serving: Nitro tap

Pale orange-brown colour. A disc of dense white foam sits atop the beer but seems like a totally separate component. It’s smooth, creamy and refreshing with a mild bitterness. Not a patch on the 90’s version which was 4.8% and much richer and intensly flavoured.

Pours a wicked golden yellow with a cascading white foaming head. Good lacing although not the thick foamy that a Guiness or Killkenny has. Aroma is mostly malt backed and the taste is fairly bland and unimaginative. Slightly floral in the taste with malt and mild hop all faint on the palate.

Rarely drink from cans but my bro offered it up...smooth like a beer milkshake, only not much to chew on... seems at first creamy but more watery. Slightly malty, but not a lot there. Looks beautiful in a glass though as it settles out with a fine, fuzzy head. Interesting, but not one I’d buy.

On tap at Bittles Bar in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I wasn’t a big fan of this, but my girlfriend loved it. There was just...something missing in the finish. It had a bitter malty flavor, with little sweetness. But it wasn’t a good bitter hoppiness, it was just a strange bitterness.

Had this at Arizona’s near the Toronto airport. Pint glass, frothy beige head. On nitro. Nice brew.

Pours dark amber with heavy off white head leaving nice lacing. Sweet and a bit roasted malts aroma. Lean to drink malty flavor, but also watery. Flat on palate.Finishes with malty bitter aftertaste.
