COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Pours a clear amber body with a thick, nitro-foam head. Smell is vague, but some caramel maltiness does manage to make its way through the nitro head. Taste is...well, taste is...hmm. I’ll try again. *takes another, big sip* Ok, the taste is definitely...wait...it’s like...hmmm...*another sip*. It’s...IT’S NOT THERE, GODDAMMIT!! What the hell is WRONG with this beer??? I’m so annoyed now I’m gonna drain pour this one and go get me something real. :-(

nitro tap at Niall’s in Stirling, Scotland - Pours light amber with a long lasting head and has a minimal malt aroma. The taste is lightly bitter but led by sweet, creamy malt. It’s light bodied and overall a decent brew if kind of bland.

Can.
Pours a deep amber; pours like it has a "widget" in it. Nice white head. Aroma is strawberry malt and light autumn leaves. Flavor is bitter leaves and baked malt bread. Slick and creamy mouthfeel. Nice surprise; classic English ale.

Can. Pours clear amber coloured with a whipped cream looking egg white nitro head. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel and nitro. Flavours of grain, mild caramel and a dry finish. Smooth and dry. Nothing special.

Tall can, 440ml bought at the Beer Store in Brampton. I am a fan of this beer, just had a bunch of buddies over fight night and the Caffreys were going down nice and smooth. Nice amber colored beer with a quick cascade, leaves a cream colored head and some residue on the glass as you drink it. Smells mostly of caramel and some malt, but tastes a little bit flat, and faintly of caramel. Still, an enjoyable beer I would buy again
