2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aluminium bottle from Murat Food Centre, Gedling Street, Nottingham. The packaging proudly boasts this is a Premium Irish Ale. Except that it isn’t Irish - it’s brewed in North Yorkshire. And it isn’t all that premium, either - not when it’s a misely 3.8 ABV and pours flatter than any beer I have ever known. I suspect this isn’t how it’s meant to look as it had less head than Charles I. In its defence the aroma isn’t bad at all - strong and toasty hops with some sweet syrup notes. Alas, what initial bitterness there is fades quicker than you can say thisisnotanirishbeer and it has a very thin, watery mouthfeel. Not the best fake Irish beer in the world.

Burk från Systembolaget. Fantastiskt snygg bärnstensfärgad vätska med gräddigt skum men det är tyvärr det enda roliga med den här. Besviken!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nitro can 440 ml at home, poured into a big Guinness glass, ABV 3.8%
Deep copper orange to light amber, small creamy head, off-white in colour, with very good retention actually, leaving light lacing behind.
Malty aroma with some caramel and light toffee, all very faint.
Taste of some malts and caramel, also some herbal notes on the finish, nothing exciting but it still manages to satisfy.
Thin body with low carbonation, nice and creamy on the palate.
Average beer but still it drinks nice. Nothing to write home about though.
