COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey’s Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor’s Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.
The ABV was reduced from 4.8% to 4.2% in 2001 and, in March 2010, was further reduced to 3.8%. ABV may very in export markets.

By recommendation of a British co-worker, I went to the Irish pub in Philly known for its authentic Irish-poured Guiness, and this beer stole the show and made my night. Poured from the tap, this beer settled just like Guiness (downward bubbles). Rich, dark color and delicious taste made this beer an instant favorite. Leaves bit of a sweet aftertaste (which I loved), but may not be for everybody (my friend sitting with me didn’t care for the aftertaste). The smoothest beer I have had. A true gem. If you’ve had the can version and didn’t like it, try this on tap...MUCH better.

A very enjoyable irish ake. I've heard they don't make this anymore- it's a shame.

Dark, creamy. Not all that bitter, which makes it good, becuase as much as I love bitterness- I don't like it with these types.

Very creamy, great head, good overall. Perhaps not the best creme ale, but always a safe choice.

I hear a lot of complaints about nitrogen ’widget’ beer, but it has a creamy, silky head and pleasant flavor
