3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Joeh (2036) - - DEC 6, 2002
Huge, spicy aroma of hops and fruit. Copper colour, medium carbonation and only a slight head. Very tasty, fruit, hops and spice - very slightly watery despite the 5% abv. Christmas ales probably should be a little less easy drinking and more full bodied - but good none the less.

Cask Handpump at Cains Brewery Tap, Liverpool 17/12/2010 (As Christmas Ale ABV 4.7%)
Big fruit aroma. White head. Golden bronze coloured and hoppy with some alcohol present. Fruity banana flavour with a bitter malt finish.
Also sampled in the midst of the heaviest snowstorm I’ve ever seen in Liverpool city centre!

Tried this in the ’Brewery Tap’ when visiting Liverpool. Well worth it. Took a while to get used to the ’mulled wine’ taste but soon found I loved it. A lovely warming beer. And it started to snow!
