maeib (4106), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Feb 15, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Eagle and Child, Oxford. A dark amber headless beer. The aroma is light and fruity with some toffee notes. The taste is also sweet and fruity but underdeveloped. The barrel went while some of our party were ordering this beer. Not surprised. MesandSim (4623), Highgate, Greater London, England Feb 15, 2008 A Mes rate: Cask at the "Bird & Baby", Oxford during the RB pub crawl.
Mid brown with no head. Bland sweet malt aroma with lots of caramel. More caramel in the flavour that is unfortunately backed up with some rather unpleasant apple and a nasty bitter finish.

NEXT! imdownthepub (4250), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Feb 10, 2008 Cask conditioned at The eagle & Child, Oxford Ratebeerian day. Dark brown with red hue. Strong dark malty notes but a little sour perhaps due to being the last to be pulled through. Pretty uninteresting really. Magicdave6 (4092), London, Greater London, England Jan 22, 2008 Cask in Tennents bar. Aroma is lacking somewhat, nutty, slight choc hint. Taste is typically brown ale malts, to be honest. SilkTork (3950), Rochester, Kent, England Mar 22, 2007 Updated: Feb 16, 20082004 Cask Fresh @ The Rising Sun, East Malling, Kent - a Freehouse. A dark and almost roasty beer - surprisingly light tasting for a 5% ale. Attractive dark church pew colour. Absolutely no condition - completely flat and lifeless. Some fruity sweetness on the edge of red berries - perhaps a bit of raspberry. A very gentle bitterness. Not the sort of beer the colour, name and abv suggests - fairly limited, but pleasant enough. [3.0]
Feb, 2008 Eagle & Child, Oxford A sweet toffee edged beer with a touch of tobacco and a handful of licorice. Quite characterless despite the mouthful of flavour. [2.7]
