[At Fete de la Biere 2004, Lausanne] An amber beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty but very faint. The flavor is fruity and malty - a very plain ale. Nothing wrong, just nothing special about it.

Bottle from Aldi in Neston. Clear amber colour with some rising carbonation bubbles and a head that quickly disappears after pouring. Aroma is of citrus hops and a hint of toast. The taste is dominated by hops with an array of fairly bitter citrus flavours which tingle the tongue. Overall, a very drinkable premium bitter, but doesn’t stand out too much from the crowd.

Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in April 2000. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with a thick creamy white head. Slight toffee note in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a chewy digestive biscuit flavour with soft toffee notes. Hint of citrus hop in the short bitter aftertaste. Finish is well balanced and full bodied. An excellent ESB but not one to overdo!

I’m begining to sense a Cains "style", which I like. 500ml bottle, served cool. Golden with a white head, and a touch of caramel and fruity biscuit. There is a citrus kick in the finish. Nice beer.
