440 (14.9oz) can. clear, dark copper color. Thin, persisting creamy cream-colored head. Loose, sliding lace. Light body, smooth, light carbonation. Very easy to drink. Malty, musty, sort of... Like a light skunk to it, but itís charming. The bitter taste is nice. Iím new to this style, so maybe I donít know what a good "bitter" is. Aroma has some chocolate. Shared a bit with my mom, she thought it was under-carbonated, and that the aroma was lacking. I think this is good, though. Underrated brew.

Purchased from Jungle Jimís world market in Fairfield, Ohio - Alright, this dark copper (more like brown) hued bitter brew was light in body but was still tastey... a fine session beer.

Draft at House of Beer (Orlando, FL). Pours a near black very dark brown with reddish edges and a dense, creamy ran head. Roasted malt and a bit of sweetness in the aroma. Nice flavour with a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate in the aftertaste.

From a 14.9-ounce bottle this poured a deep, clear copper body with a modest ecru head that was soon reduced to a slender riing and some film. No lace. The aroma was caramel covered nuts with a light earthiness and a suggestion of cocoa. It tasted of caramel, soft nuts, and an earthy, grassy hop spiciness. A mild bitterness shows up in the finish. Not bad. Iíd drink it again.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
I have to agree with degbert (2 ratings before mine) that this looks right, but misses badly. There is a definite vegetable, even smokey taste that, while not a loser, is certainly not a bitter. The over-riding description would be thin and watery with an odd taste covering the traditional caramel malt with light hops.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the can 124-08:34-4 May 12. Well, it has an enchanting dark amber look to it with a lot of clarity but a small head. The aroma has an atypical caramel malt and sugar sweet sensation so I would put that at about average because there is nothing out of the ordinary. The body seems thin to medium. The taste is also as sweet as it smells with the British-bitterness quality of a Newcastle Brown Ale. It was easy to drink but not terribly memorable.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can. Nose is caramel, nuts, and toast. Pours a clear brown with very little head. Flavor is strange -- thereís a weird vegetal note, then roast, then a thin sweetness on the close. Not pleasant. Skip this one; drink their Dark Mild.

Can from kegs and barrels. Pours a dark brown with a thin off white head. This is not really that great of a beer. A little chocolate, and weak coffee with some malt. Watery and light body. Cheers!
